Token Operators as well as Station Controllers are some of the first workers of the Kolkata Metro. They are the first contact point for all incoming passengers. They look after the selling of tokens and tickets and also attend the operation of the station. They assist the passengers as well as and enforce procedures on safety and security. KMRCL Responsibilities
🔹 Token Operator
- Manage token/ticket sales– assist passengers with the sales of tokens (passes) assist in travelling ticket issues.
- Diary sales record analysis– record daily sales and report to the head office.
- Customer complaint management– attend to customer issues showing empathy and provide accurate information to assist with their travel.
- Token machine management– assist in ticket/ token vending machine operational problems.
🔹 Station Controller
Monitor the station for (efficiency) safety, security and assist from cctv.
Assist train operators along with the control room for coordination of the train with the control.
Monitor ticket gate/checker operators and housekeeping and security of the station.
Ensure complete adherence to the station’s Metro rules and drills for passenger safety.
Skills & Qualifications Required Education:
Token Operator – Minimum 12th Pass / Graduate / Diploma.
Station Controller – Graduate / Diploma in Civil, Electronics, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
Age limit: From 19 to 28 years (Age relaxation as per Govt. policy)
Technical Knowledge: Primary computer knowledge and computer based ticketing/ ticketing machine operations.
Soft Skills: Robust interpersonal skills including communication, customer service, resolution skills, and the ability to think quickly.
Physical/G medical Fitness: Candidates must meet the KMR compliance. This includes vision, hearing, and general fitness.
Selection Process / Phases: Step 1 Online Application and Screening Applications can be made through the KMRC and Metro recruitment portals. Candidates must meet the specific age and qualification requirements.
Step 2 Written Test: This is an objective-based written test which includes:
- Current Events/ General Knowledge
- Quantitative Reasoning
- Logic
- Correspondence (English/ Region)
- Other technical papers a controller does at the station.
Step 3 Skills/ Typing Test (For Token Operator):
This includes hands on test done on computers. Candidates will handle ticketing machines and perform operations which includes basic systems, transferring data and other bots.
Step 4 Psycho Test/ Aptitude Test (For Station Controller)
This includes reaction-based responding which gauges how nimble the sense and actions are transmitted to the brain.
Step 5 Personal Interview: Communication, conduct, and logic in thinking is to be evaluated.
Step 6 Metro Training: Based on the overall performance, candidates will be selected for the final merit list.
Salary:
- Token Operator: ₹20,000 – ₹30,000
- Station controller (directing the operations of the station): ₹35,000 – ₹50,000.
