Women crew members in the IRCTC manage hospitality, catering and member service on the Vande Bharat Express, Tejas Express, Shatabdi Express and Rajdhani Express premium trains. Roles in which women are crew members of the IRCTC include:
Onboard Service Crew Staff:
Women are the “face” of the IRCTC catering service, attending to passengers, and managing their cleanliness to ensure they have a pleasant journey.
Train Hostess:
Onboard the Vande Bharat and Tejas Express, some women work as hostesses, welcoming and guiding passengers to their seats and ascertaining their comfort during the journey.
Catering Supervisor:
These women are in charge of the IRCTC catering team and are responsible for company standard compliance in timely meal service, inventory, and work breakdown structure management.
Tourism Executive/Coordinator:
This role assists in the management of IRCTC’s travel by rail and associated onboard service tourism packages, providing customer service and travel support.
An employee in ground support, customer care:
On their own and as a team, women staff works with a customer with the aim of making a customer’s experience positive. Individually and in a team, customer experience optimization works online as well as offline in the passenger query at the station, assisted at the ticket counter, and enabled at the help desk.
Requirements:
Minimum Educational Requirement:
Minimum of 12 and above passed courses or a Graduate in Hospitality, Tourism, Hotel management or any relevant discipline.
Candidates with a Diploma or Certification in Travel and Tourism, Aviation, or Hotel management would be preferred.
Selection criteria:
- Minimum age of 18 with a maximum of 30, with government relaxation.
- Interaction and interpersonal skills:
- Ability to communicate with customers in English as well as Hindi.
- Good customer care skills, posses a team spirit and pleasant in nature.
- Good personal grooming and hygiene practices.

Main Duties:
In accordance with the set of standards and the menu, serve the prescribed meals and drinks during the travel between stations as set by IRCTC.
Help the passengers with their chairs, luggages, and with their questions.
Make certain that the compartment and the toilet remain in a clean and sanitary condition.
Inform the supervisor of any discomfort that a passenger is facing or any issue that is swelling on the train.
In some positions, it is essential to issue and maintain records of the food that has been sold, as well as the money that has been collected.
Work along with the kitchen as well as the people in charge of meals and other logistics to ensure that the customers receive their meals on time.

Salary and Benefits:
Within IRCTC, the pay is calculated differently based on the territories traversed and the individual’s position:

Catering Supervisor: ₹35,000 – ₹45,000
Tourism Executive: ₹30,000 – ₹50,000
Customer Support Staff: ₹20,000 – ₹30,000
