Key Responsibilities:
Passenger Safety:
Air hostesses conduct safety demonstrations. They also make sure that people know the safety measures that we have to take. They take charge of the situation in the unlikely event that something bad were to happen.
Customer Service: Air hostesses provide good service to customers by offering food and drinks. They also help people with anything they need. They help people with problems and questions that they ask sometime during the flight.
Pre-flight Duties:
Air hostesses go to a flight briefing before every flight. This is where they get information about the flight, like who the passengers are and if they have any special requests. They also make sure that all the emergency tools are there and ready to use. Finally, they make sure the cabin is ready for people to get on.
In-flight Management: During the flight they have to watch the airplane cabin. They also help people in the cabin if they need help with something like change their seat. They have to make sure that everyone is safe and is comfortable. They are in charge of all the people on the flight. They are the ones that help people if there is a medical emergency or if there is someone that is causing problems.
Post-flight Responsibilities:
After the flight is over, air hostesses help people get off of the airplane. Once that is done, they have to clean the cabin and get it ready for the next flight.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: An applicant generally must have a graduation certificate from a secondary school, but priority may be given to applicants who have post-secondary education credentials in programs like hospitality, travel, or tourism.
- Language Proficiency: Since you will have to pass your requirements to travel with all sorts of clients, being fluent in English will come in handy as you may require to communications with people in all sorts of businesses.
Physical Requirements: Most airlines will have their own height and weight standards. The applicants will also be required to pass medical tests to check their fitness for travel.
Interpersonal Skills: Communication and serving of clients is a most needed ability due to the relations of the air hostesses with the travelers and the other people in the crew.
