A flight attendant or cabin crew worker must take complete charge of a plane passenger’s safety and understand and take care of a passenger’s needs. Addressing a passenger’s needs requires excellent customer service. Points of customer service attention range from pre-flight checks, safety briefings and food service, and oh yes, we must manage any critical emergencies such as medical emergencies, and security emergencies. Essential Duties:
- Safety and Security: Inspect emergency equipment, show safety practices, conduct evacuation drills, and address medical and security situations.
- Customer Service: Welcome, assist with seating and luggage, serve meals and beverages, have discussion to address passenger complaints, and ensure passenger satisfaction.
- In-Flight Duties: Make public address announcements, supervise the upkeep of the cabin, control the sale of duty-free merchandise, and liaise with the flight crew.

- You are well-groomed and presentable.
- Willingness to work odd hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays).
What They Do:
Before Flight:
Flight Attendants do briefings, check safety equipment, and prepare the cabin.
During Flight: Flight Attendants assist passengers, provide in-flight service (food/drinks), make announcements, manage in-flight issues, and complete sales.
After Flight:
Flight Attendants do final cabin checks, assist disembarking passengers, and complete any open supervisory duties.
Cabin crews are on the roster system which means they have a different schedule every week which makes the working hours very irregular and unsocial. This means they have to work very early in the mornings, late hours in the nights, holidays or weekends. Some airlines have more regular week hours than others. In terms of flights, short haul flights tend to have more regular flights than long haul ones.
There are situations where you may have to work on your days off or may have to have a flexible work schedule and that’s usually if the return leg of the flight is cancelled or delayed, but you are compensated extra for these days.
