As a lead PhonePe you will be responsible for planning, assembling, and editing distinct film and video footage all whilst creating completed, broadcast-ready projects that align with the visions of the production director.

PhonePe Responsibilities:

• Evaluating the vision of the director for the production.
• Understanding the vision of the director for the production.

• Preparing for the meeting by reviewing the raw production material to create a shot list.
• Using advanced editing technology to adjust video and film material.
• Moving video clips to adjust to new scenes while maintaining film continuity.
• Trimming raw video material and compiling the draft project.
• Inserting dialogues, adding music, sound effects, graphics, and video effects.
• Ensuring the project is sequenced logically.
• Consulting with the production team and director throughout the project.

Requirements for PhonePe

You need a bachelor’s degree in film studies, cinematography, or a related degree.

You need previous video editing experience.

You need practical experience with editing software. Include Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro X, Avid Media Composer, Lightworks, and Premiere.

You need a creative and artistic portfolio.

You need to have knowledge of 3D composition and special effects.

You need to provide a portfolio of finished film work.

You need to be able to work to a tight deadline.

You need to be able to take an idea and see it through to completion.

PhonePe and skills:

1. A strong background as a Video Editor
2. Strong background with digital tech and editing software (Avid Media Composer, Lightworks, Premiere, After Effects and Final Cut)
3. Strong video editing skills demonstrated by a portfolio
4. Ability to analyze and understand timing, motivation and continuity
5. Knowledge of special effects, 3D and compositing
6. Creative and a strong storyteller
7. Bachelor’s degree in film studies, cinematography or related field

Working patterns:

Working patterns depend on the production, so some employers may allow you to do standard office hours. However, if you’re working on television or feature films, a 50-hour working week is likely.

You may have to do shift work if editing suites are booked overnight. When there are deadlines, you can expect to work long hours and do overtime.

To succeed in editing, you must be very committed and be prepared to get your hands dirty and do very rudimentary tasks. Getting work experience in other aspects of media production will provide you the opportunity to show this, as well as aid in determining whether you believe you are cut out for the job.

You will be required to have pre-entry experience, and you must provide proof of having done some work in film or video production or post-production, and this is best done via a showreel that is current and professionally prepared.
