RRB Group D 2026 – Seems Like A dope Opportunity for 10th Pass Candidates

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has declared one of the largest Group D Level 1 posts examinations (CEN 08/2025) for 10th pass or ITI certified individuals to enter the Indian Railways. Around 10.82 million (1.08 crore) applications have been submitted for this recruitment drive, one of the largest, if not the largest, in the history of the railway.

Eligibility Criteria

Negative Marking

  • ⅓ for each incorrect response.

Cut Off Scored for Qualifying Marks for Shortlisting

  • UR / EWS: 40%
  • OBC (non creamy): 30%
  • SC / ST: 30%

PET (Physical Efficiency Test)

  • Male: 1000 meters run in 4 minutes 15 seconds, lifting 35 kg for 100 meters, etc.
  • Female: 1000 meters run in 5 minutes 40 seconds, lifting 20 kg for 100 meters, etc.
  • Visual standards (A 2, A 3, B 1, B 2) for distance eyesight, near eyesight, and color vision apply.

Document Verification & Medical

  • Candidates must provide documents for verification and undergo medical fitness tests.

Salary & Benefits

  • Basic Pay: ₹ 18,000 per month (7th CPC Level 1)
  • Estimate in-hand Salary: ₹ 22,500 to ₹ 25,380 per month (After Basic Pay & Allowances: DA, HRA, transport, and overtime).

Syllabus Overview

  • Mathematics: Number System, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Time and Work, Speed and Distance, Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics.
  • General Intelligence/ Reasoning: Series, Analogies, Coding/ Decoding, Directions, Venn Diagrams, Puzzles, and more.
  • General Science: Basic 10th grade Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology).
  • General Awareness/ Current Affairs: National and International policies, Events, Economy and Culture, Sports etc.

Additional Notes and Updates.

  • Candidates wit CC AA certification ( candidates who completed apprenticeship in Railway establishments) may be eligible under reserved provisions.
  • The exam will be administered in English, Hindi and 13 regional languages.
  • 2019 had the highest number of vacancies (approximately 103,769). In comparison, 2026  will have 22,138 vacancies.
  • Admit cards are issued a few days before the exam. Check your city/exam center for updates.

Tips & Strategy

  • Solve past papers to gauge the exam’s level of difficulty and to identify recurring question formats.
  • Work on finishing the exam quickly and adding the correct answers to avoid problems with negative marking.
  • For current affairs, especially national and railway events, practice note-taking drills.
  • For the physical efficiency test, do cardio conditioning and strength training so that you have the necessary stamina.
  • Have original educational and identity documents ready.
